For my birthday, my beloved wife got me a new gadget. That in and of itself is not that unusual (and hence, blog-worthy), but this one is connected to optics, and as such of naturally great interest!
The Lytro camera is the first (consumer) camera that captures not only light intensity and color, but also its wavefront. As such, the raw data of the pictures taken contain sufficient information, to allow you to re-focus after the fact and/or change your perspective a little.
So, just click on the part of the picture that you'd like to see in focus and the miracle occurs. Or click and drag to notice an (ever so slight) change of perspective.
Good stuff!
